ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The Alice Chambers Memorial Library is a service provided by the Manitoba Eco-Network and is free and open to the public.

Our collection includes books, government reports, films, journals and other materials related to environmental issues in Manitoba and globally. We also maintain a sub-Public Registry with files on developments in Manitoba including proposals, environmental assessments and licences.

Donations
We appreciate the many generous donations from individuals who have contributed resources to the library. If you have environmental books on your shelf that you’d like to make available to the wider community through our library, please contact us.

Requests
We welcome your recommendations for new materials to add to the library. If there’s a resource you think the environmental community in Manitoba would benefit by having access to, please contact us with your suggestions.

Alice Chambers
Alice Chambers (1937-1999), a treasured member of the Manitoba environmental community, was active in a number of groups including: Resource Conservation Manitoba, Manitoba Naturalists Society, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and Time to Respect Earth’s Eco-systems. She used the library often, especially the Public Registry files where she kept track of developments around the province. Alice was a firm believer in public access to information, and we think she would be pleased to know that environmental information will continue to be available to the public in this library bearing her name.
