Part time,

  The Opportunity 
We have a need for up to ten (10) seasonal Zoo Attendants who will report to a Curator within Assiniboine Park Zoo.  Zoo Attendants will enhance our visitors’ experiences, assist with daily animal husbandry and support zoo operations to maintain high levels of maintenance and care for a diverse collection of zoo animals according to the quality standards of accredited zoological practices. Zoo Attendants will focus on providing our visitors with extraordinary experiences and may assist with preparing and providing animal diets, animal handling, animal enrichment, exhibit and general facility cleaning and maintenance, recording animal behaviour and health indicators, preparing and providing public presentations, supporting research programs, and promoting and participating in conservation projects. The Zoo Attendants must follow all health and safety legislation, regulations and policies, and provide extraordinary experiences to our visitors as part of their regular daily activities.

  Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Enrollment in or completion of a life sciences or related degree is a valued asset. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills for maintaining respectful working relationships with fellow employees, and providing extraordinary experiences to our visitors. Candidates must demonstrate skills in responding to emergencies, must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position (documentation of physical capacity may be required), must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence, and be available to work days, evenings and weekends including holidays.
