Join us for a tour of Amber Trails Community School – Manitoba’s first LEED Platinum Certified School! Prior to the tour we will hear from Public Schools Finance Board (PSFB) Architect and Project Leader, Kyle Lewkowich, on the lessons learned at PSFB through its work on numerous LEED school projects. With 10 completed LEED certified school projects ranging from LEED Certified to LEED Platinum, and another 15 additional active projects currently in some stage of design, construction, or completion of the LEED documentation, Public Schools Finance Board has a depth of experience in the area of green building. Participants will receive an experienced overview on how to address the many challenges of completing a project through to successful LEED certification.
Kyle Lewkowich is an architect, and project leader, at Public Schools Finance Board, the architectural, engineering, and infrastructure finance section of the Manitoba Department of Education. Kyle has been with Public Schools Finance Board since 2008, and has been a part of the project teams, in a variety of capacities, on all of the Public Schools Finance Board recent LEED projects, as well as on numerous other projects. Kyle has a specialty interest in sustainable design and integrative design process and has, in addition to his role on PSFB projects, been the department’s representative on the Intergovernmental Working Team for Province of Manitoba Green Building Policy. Prior to his role at PSFB, Kyle was at Smith Carter Architects (now Architecture 49) where, among other projects, he completed the LEED documentation for the SC3 Office, Manitoba’s first LEED Platinum building. Kyle has also worked in British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia, holds an M. Arch (UBC) and an MBA (Manitoba), and sits as a current board member of Sustainable Buildings Manitoba.
