Public Education and Outreach Coordinator

The Public Education and Outreach (PEO) Coordinator will partner with CCC’s two Project Managers to deliver CCC’s Phase Nine business plan. Primary areas of responsibility are the coordination of community outreach initiatives, delivering presentations, researching and writing print and electronic information pieces, and aiding in the delivery of the anti-idling initiative.  Climate Change Connection is a project of the Manitoba Eco-Network.

Term: 12 months (April 2010 – March 2011), possible extension
Hours: part time, 18 hours/week
Salary: $17,000 - $18,000/year, commensurate with experience
Start Date: April, 2010
CLOSING DATE: March 22, 2010

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
General Duties
·         Deliver presentations to the general public
·         Seek display opportunities and staff display
·         Answer public inquires, referrals to and between stakeholders, distribute climate change information material, and network with partners
·         Build and strengthen a network of partners working on climate change education and action
·         Research, design, and write information pieces on climate change topics and “climate-friendly” living for print and electronic distribution
·         Review, update and provide content for www.climatechangeconnection.org
·         Contribute to reports to funders, ensure budgets are followed, and assist in the writing of the business plan

Community Outreach
·         Continue partnerships with municipalities and community programs
·         Organize and deliver community awareness workshops and projects
·         Generate materials to assist communities in climate-friendly initiatives

Anti-Idling
·         Organize and promote the anti-idling project
·         Provide presentations and assistance toManitoba schools and communities
·         Package and arrange Idle-Free Zone signs for shipping

Job Qualifications:

The candidate should possess an undergraduate degree in biology/natural science, geography, environmental science, or a related field.  Previous experience in an environmental field (especially if related to climate change), event coordination and delivery, outreach education, researching and writing print and electronic information pieces and business administration would be assets.  Requires the ability to work independently and organize their personal workload. Must have excellent oral & written communication skills. Proficient with computers and computer software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and internet navigation and research. Knowledge and experience with Adobe Contribute is an asset.  Previous experience in the non-profit sector is also an asset.

Evaluation Coordinator

A full-time 2-year term with potential to become a permanent position; annual salary $45,000
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will be responsible for coordinating the evaluation of programs that support healthy sustainable communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with partner organizations to plan and implement program evaluations.
• Participate in training partner organization staff.
• Provide analytic and technical support.
• Participate in preparation and dissemination of knowledge exchange materials.

REQUIREMENTS
• Degree related to social or environmental sciences or equivalent education and
experience
• Minimum three years experience working in the community with an emphasis on
program planning and evaluation
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative program evaluation design and methods, as
well as community based research methods
• Experience with database management and statistical data analysis using Excel, Access
and/or SPSS
• Experience conducting literature reviews
• Strong facilitation and consultation skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written (including reports and proposals), and verbal
communication skills and experience in preparing written information for various target
audiences.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting and with community agencies
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer in a Microsoft Windows XP
environment.

G20 and Climate Campus Outreach Coordinators

Position Title: G20 and Climate Campus Outreach Organizers, CYCC  
Organization: Canadian Youth Climate Coalition 
Job Classification:  1 full?time position, 5?7 part?time positions 
 
Fulltime position: 10 weeks at 35 hrs/wk, $17/hr 
Part?time positions: 20hrs/wk during March and 8hrs/wk during April; $15/hr

Concept:
A co-ordinated youth movement that generates a Canadian youth presence at the G20 in Toronto
to expose dependence on dirty energy an carbon?intensive industries while demanding the need for
climate justice and Canada's transition to a green and just economy.  
This Campaign would consist of two pieces:
  
1) The Youth Convergence to Toronto G20 
2) Community-based affinity groups across Canada mobilizing youth to take political action on
climate change in the lead up to the G20   

Responsibilities:
 
1.Oversee all campus outreach 
2.Coordinate and support efforts of the G20 and Climate Campus-based organizers on campuses
 and universities in their region 
3.Coordinate campus outreach on campuses and universities in their region 
4.Set up Climate Crews on campuses and be point person for these action teams  
5.Work with Climate Crews to organize Flash mobs, climate justice teach?ins, G20 teach ins,
At the Table activities, and other events on campus 
6.Collect youthproduced media and media hits from local action teams
and consolidate on website 
7.Compile regional contacts for database of local student activists 
Time line: 10 weeks, March through mid?May  2010 
**The full?time organizer will oversee all campus outreach, but spend three quarters of
their time doing campus outreach in South?western Ontario. The part?time organizers will focus on campus
outreach in their community or region.  Ideally, there will be an organizer in each of the following four regions:
Quebec, Atlantic, BC/North, and Central/Prairies.
  
Qualifications:
 
•Some background in climate science, policy, education, or advocacy  
• Some background working with youth  
• Project management, campaigning and team management experience  
• Strong team player  
• Self?motivated with an ability to work independently  
• Strong writing and research skills  
• Ability to work in flexible work environment  
• Strong ability to multi?task  
• Enthusiastic and creative with a willingness to learn  
• Web design and social media skills will be considered an asset  
• Previous experience with the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition will be considered an asset
