Conservation Intern

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is offering university and college students an opportunity to become a SHELL CONSERVATION INTERN and put their environmental science knowledge to work this summer on some of Canada's most ecologically significant landscapes.

NCC Manitoba Region will be hiring 2 students for 24 weeks to carry out on-the-ground stewardship tasks at locations across Manitoba. Working in NCC's priority natural areas could take you to Tall Grass Prairie, Riding Mountain Aspen Parkland, Whitemouth River Watershed, Southwestern Sandhills and Mixed-grass Prairies and the Interlake. NCC Manitoba is responsible for the stewardship of over 46,000 acres of habitat, including 50 conservation agreements and 103 properties that we own. Interns will play an integral role in stewarding the NCC properties by assisting Manitoba staff with several stewardship activities, including ecological monitoring, baseline report preparation, mapping of biological communities and threats, and the implementation of property management plan recommendations.

NCC is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization that takes a business-like approach to preserving Canada's natural heritage. Our focus is on conservation through private action. Our success is based on partnership with individuals, corporations, community groups, conservation groups, foundations and government agencies to create solutions that benefit nature.

The SHELL CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM is made possible by support from Shell Canada Limited. A partner in conservation with NCC for over 29 years, Shell Canada has donated $7 million in financial resources, land and mineral rights to NCC.
