CP Loewen Family Foundation

Projects Funded:  Projects with an environmental/education focus, alleviation of poverty, community building, and economic mobility.
Eligibility:   Canada wide, charitable organizations with a registered tax number.
Funding Limits:   $500,000. Normally not to provide more than 25% of project cost.
Application Deadlines:   No deadlines, all decisions made in November.

Eco-Action, Environment Canada

Projects Funded:  Community environmental projects that are themed in greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Also projects aimed at priority environmental issues (nature,air/water quality).
Eligibility:   Community/Environment organizations, Aboriginal/First Nations groups, Service/youth/seniors clubs and organizations.
Funding Limits:   $100,000. Requires matching funds or in kind support from sponsors.

Environmental Damages Fund

The Environmental Damages Fund (EDF) helps ensure polluters take responsibility for their actions.  It gives courts a way to guarantee tat the money from pollution penalties and settlements is directly invested to repair the actual harm done by the pollution.

Environmental Youth Corps

Projects Funded: Activities such as community clean-ups or creating green space that provide youth with hands-on learning experiences leading to increased knowledge and awareness of environmental matters.
Eligibility:  Charitable and voluntary organizations; environmental organizations; service clubs and local government organizations, including municipalities, band councils and aboriginal organizations; and educational institutions and student groups.

Evergreen - Common Grounds Funding

Evergreens’ Common Grounds program – in partnership with Walmart Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, The Home depot Canada, and Unilver Canada – provide grants to community groups doing environmental stewardship work across Canada.

Investors Group Community Projects Fund

Projects Funded: Environment is one of the granting categories, priority sectors will be identified by the Fund Committee each year based on employee feedback.  Preference will be given to capital or specific project grants, rather than operating support.
Eligibility: Registered charities.
Funding Limits: Grants are $1000 to $10 000, with grants over $5000 requiring a formal presentation to the committee.  A minimum of $50 000 will be allocated each year.

Mountain Equipment Coop - National Fund

Projects Funded:  Projects that protect outdoor environmental areas of significant recreation and wilderness value to MEC members. Mandate is to educate MEC members and the general public on important wilderness issues and the importance of protecting our natural environment.
Eligibility:   Canadian citizens (projects in Canada), Non-profit Organizations (but not required), Volunteer involvement is substantial, (with a sound and fiscally responsible budget).
Funding Limits:   $2000 and over.
Application Deadlines:   (3) January 31, May 31, September 30.

RBC Blue Water Leadership Grants

RBC Blue Water Leadership Grants
The RBC Blue Water Project Leadership grants are directed to organizations that are leaders in providing programs in North America and other countries where RBC does business. The focus for these grants are:
 1)Watershed protection. Programs and projects that focus on watershed awareness, community-based watershed stewardship, protection and restoration of sensitive natural areas, or sustainable water use and conservation.
 2) Access to clean drinking water. Programs and projects that focus on making sure communities have access to clean, safe drinking water, when and where it is needed.

Shell Environmental Fund

Projects Funded:  Projects that propose innovative, action orientated ways of improving and protecting the Canadian environment.
Eligibility:   Citizens, service clubs, charitable/volunteer organizations, environmental/youth groups.
Funding Limits:   $5,000.
Application Deadlines:   (2) February 28 and October 1 for projects that exceed $500.
Projects under $500 are not subject to deadline.

Special Conservation Fund - Manitoba Conservation

Projects Funded:  Projects that enhance/foster a better understanding of Manitoba's natural resources. Projects dealing with sustainable development/environmental issues at the local level, which encourage public awareness.
Eligibility:   Non-profit community based organizations, schools, youths, conservation organizations (Manitoba based).
Funding Limits:   $25,000 limit per organization (per year).
Application Deadlines:   No deadlines.

Sustainable Development Innovations Fund - Manitoba Conservation

Projects Funded:  Projects with environmental innovation and sustainable development issues that are environmentally and ecologically sound. Special recognition for youth involvement.
Eligibility:   Private and Non-profit organizations, Municipal corporations, Local governments, Businesses, Educational institutions, Industry, Community groups, Youth groups, Aboriginal and First Nation groups. (Individuals may submit a joint application with an eligible applicant).
Funding Limits:   Up to $25,000---Projects over $25,000 will be subject to the review and approval process of the Provincial Government Treasury Board. (Not to exceed $50,000).

TD Friends of the Environment

Projects Funded:  Projects that preserve Canadian environment. Projects that assist youths in understanding and    participating in Environmental activities within local communities (also enhances cooperation among environmental organizations).
Eligibility:   Must be Canadians (funds used in Canada), Non profit organizations (with a charitable registration number), Applicants must be able to provide a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of donation.
Funding Limits:   Varied.
Application Deadlines:   Accepted on ongoing bases.

Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention (WRAPP) Fund

Projects Funded:  Organic Waste Management & Composing, Construction & Demolition (C & D) Waste Management, Pollution Prevention, Model Integrated Waste Management System Development & Planning
Eligibility:  Municipal corporations, local governments, including Northern Affairs and First Nation communities, private and non-profit organizations and businesses, educational institutions, youth groups and community associations are eligible to submit project proposals. Individuals, or groups excluded from the above list may submit a joint application with an eligible applicant.
Funding Limits: Up to $25,000---Projects over $25,000 will be subject to the review and approval process of the Provincial Government Treasury Board. (Not to exceed $50,000). 50% of project funding should come from other sources.
