The mandate of the Eco-Network’s GIS Mapping Centre is to provide the benefits of GIS technologies to Manitoba’s community of non-profit organizations and other interested institutions. This starts with the possibility of generating custom maps and the establishment of whole Geographic Information Systems or interactive DVDs and CD-ROMs that can be used for educational purposes.

Database Management / Geographic Information Systems: We can create complete databases and GIS for a project; these house all relevant geographical data in map and/or tabular format and provide a base for easy data access, manipulation, retrieval and management.

Geospatial Analysis: For example, using GIS technology it is easy to retrieve information, such as the total length of rivers, roads, etc., the amount of land covered by a certain land-use, or the number of objects, such as hog barns within a defined distance to a town or farm site.
Database Management / Geographic Information Systems: We can create complete databases and GISs for a project; these house all relevant geographical data in map and/or tabular format and provide a base for easy data access, manipulation, retrieval and management.

Custom maps and Posters: We can establish thematic maps of a specified area that can be included in a report, presentation, poster, website, etc. These can be provided in printed and digital format.

Interactive Maps: Applications and designs vary greatly. For example, we can use a base map and users can view pictures or videos of features on the map or tabular or graphic statistics of that feature, such as water quality data along a river - by the click of a mouse button. These kinds of products can be established for on-line publications and are especially useful for educational purposes.

Workshops: When there is sufficient demand, the Centre offers workshops on various topics, such an Introduction to GIS and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

Project Management: We are happy to provide our services during any stage of your project, from assistance in the proposal stage, over data management during a project, to the provision of CDs, DVDs, maps and posters that show your results towards the end of the project. (Please note that we accept work on a first come, first serve basis, so do give us some warning!) In addition, we can establish partnerships in which we take a leading role in the project design and implementation.
