Job Title: Camp Lifeguard

Supervisor: Camp Director

Hours of Work: Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 4:30

Dates: June 22- August 28, 2017

Job Summary:

The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well-being of campers in all lakefront activities, training camp staff, volunteers and campers in waterfront safety procedures as well as delivering basic canoe and kayak instruction.


  • Experience working with children in a lakeside setting
  • National Lifeguard certification preferred
  • CPR and Standard First Aid
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Proven behaviour management and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and daily access to a vehicle


  • Lifeguard lakefront activities at Fort Whyte Alive (Outdoor Adventure Site)
  • Assist other camp staff in delivery of camp programs
  • Delivery of water safety sessions to staff, counsellors and campers
  • Develop water program schedule in conjunction with other camp staff
  • Maintain a safe and controlled atmosphere during water activities
  • Maintaining inventory of First Aid supplies
  • Administering First Aid to campers
  • Maintain cleanliness of FortWhyte camp setting, inside and out
  • Prepare a final report
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience and/or certification in canoeing, kayaking, sailing, bouldering and/or archery

Child abuse registry check and criminal records check require upon hiring
