Programme Coordinator
20 hrs/wk, $16-17/hr depending on experience; 3 weeks paid vacation daytime, evening and weekend hours required; some flexibility on regular office hours, must be present for exhibitions, workshops, other events, fundraisers, and scheduled shifts as C2 staff.

The Programme Coordinator reports to the Director and collaborates with the
Communications and Administration Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Director, the Programme Coordinator is responsible for: the implementation, administration, facilitation, and supervision of most aspects of MCC exhibitions, workshops, artist’s talks and other programming, engaging with visitors and volunteers at C2 Centre for Craft, and assisting with fundraising events and initiatives.

Programmes
Exhibitions: coordinates and facilitates all aspects of 3-4 exhibitions per year at the C2
Centre for Craft. Responsibilities vary depending on the exhibition type: some are curated,
others may be juried or open. Tasks will include but not necessarily be limited to:
-assist with the planning and development of exhibitions
-develop, update, and monitor exhibition run sheet and keep project on task/timeline
-monitor and update budget, tracking ongoing expenses
-complete cheque requisitions and submit invoices for expenses
-develop, distribute and administer calls for submission.
-oversee the selection process..
-create marketing plan for shows in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator
-write programme related text for psas, press releases, website and other marketing
avenues
-communicate with all exhibition participants including curators, artists, designers and other
partners
-develop, send out and maintain files of curatorial/artist contracts
-development of catalogue, including coordination of text, photography, design in conjunction
with design and photo team
-oversee creation of didactic materials including labels
-plan and oversee exhibition installation
-prepare and oversee opening reception including food, speakers, volunteers, etc.
-plan and implement ancillary programming, including artist talks, demonstrations,
workshops, curatorial tours or panels, etc. that complement the exhibition
-prepare written information re technical or other exhibition needs for staff and volunteers
-prepare exhibition inventory for insurance and sales at C2 shop
-oversee exhibition de-installation and return of artwork to artists or buyers
-prepare a file with all relevant exhibition information including visitors stats, catalogue and
marketing copy, contracts, exhibition summary and evaluation
*if there is a curator for the exhibition, many of these tasks will need to be done in
consultation with them.

Workshops:
Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of the CraftEd classes, currently 6-8 sessions per
year.
-create, distribute and administer call for submissions for class instructors
-facilitate artist/workshop selection process
-communicate with artists leading workshops
-schedule workshops and book programme space
-oversee the workshop registration process
-communicate with workshop participants
-create marketing plan for workshops in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator
-write text for psas, press releases, website and other marketing avenues
-be present onsite for first class or workshop of each series
-coordinate staffing of C2 space when workshops occur during “closed” hours
-prepare a file with all relevant workshop information including participant stats and
evaluation, marketing copy, contracts, and a workshop summary

Artist Talks:
Coordinates 3-4 artist talks per year that are unrelated to exhibition programming.
-help brainstorm artist talk ideas
-schedule artist talks and book programme and/or gallery space
-communicates with artists giving talks
-create marketing plan for artist talks in conjunction with the Communications Coordinator
-write text for psas, press releases, website and other marketing avenues
-coordinate any event related volunteers and refreshments
-prepare a file with all relevant workshop information including participant stats and
evaluation, marketing copy, contracts, and a workshop summary
Co-sponsorships and Other Programming:
-assist with any craft related co-productions as needed
-liaise with other groups to coordinate co-produced events
-oversee the marketing and volunteer coordination for co-produced events
C2 Centre for Craft Visitor and Volunteer Engagement:
-be present on site as “primary” or “back up” staff person 1-3 shifts per week, including 1
weekend shift per month
-duties of the “primary” include opening and closing routines for C2, volunteer supervision,
engaging shop and gallery visitors, facilitating sales, light housekeeping, volunteer
supervision and support, and assisting with any onsite events

Fundraising:
-assist with the planning and implementation of MCC fundraising events, in collaboration
with the Fundraising Committee
-attend Fundraising Committee meetings

Other:
-represent the MCC at external events (eg. CRAFTED at the WAG)
-give tours or presentations about MCC/C2 Centre for Craft to interested groups
-help supervise interns, summer job placements, and volunteers
-participate in regular staff meetings
-other duties as assigned
