* On the Line (trailer),
The Northern Gateway Pipeline Project is a proposal by Calgary’s Enbridge Corporation to construct a 1,170 km oil pipeline from Bruderheim, AB to Kitimat, BC. The pipeline would cross 773 watercourses and bring supertankers to BC’s pristine North coast for the first time ever in order to deliver Tar Sands bitumen to Asian markets.  In 2010, filmmaker Frank Wolf and his friend Todd McGowan biked, hiked, rafted and kayaked the GPS track of the pipeline to uncover the truth about the proposal. Through the voices of people they meet along the way, their journey reveals the risks and consequences of this $5.5 billion mega-project. 68 mins (Canada)
Sponsored by Climate Change Connection

* Anne Lindsey Protecting Our Earth Awards, awarded to Manitobans for their achievements in protecting and stewarding our environment.

* Reception with delicious food & a cash bar.

Proceeds from the evening go to support Eco-Network's Alice Chambers Memorial Library, offering free loans of environmental resources and helping people research their environmental questions.

Sponsored by Green Action Centre

In the Rosebud River valley, an hour east of Calgary, the water in many homes can be lit on fire. Everyone agrees there's gas in the water. Few agree on why. As gas wells sprout up, a family struggles to stay together and remain part of their community, at the same time confronting the dark truth of what may be happening beneath the surface. 43 mins (Canada)

*A Simple Question (trailer)
Sponsored by
Manitoba Nature Summit
An inspiring  film that chronicles students’ efforts to save an endangered species. It all began in Laurette Rogers’ 4th grade class as a project to save the imperiled California freshwater shrimp, and has morphed into a regional science learning program combining habitat restoration work and community service. 36 mins (USA)

*Harvesting Hope (trailer)
Sponsored by Natural Resources Institute, U of M and SSHRC

Harvesting Hope tells the stories of Aboriginal people struggling to access healthy food in Northern Manitoba communities.  In spite of restrictive policies and a lack of meaningful government support, the resilience and wisdom of indigenous people is apparent as community members reintroduce traditional practices around food. 37 mins (Canada)

*Waste Land (trailer)
Sponsored by Uniquely Manitoba

Filmed over nearly three years, Waste Land follows artist Vik Muniz as he journeys to his native Brazil and the world's largest garbage dump on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.  After photographing an eclectic band of "catadores" - self-designated pickers of recyclable materials, Muniz collaborates with these inspiring characters to recreate the photographs out of garbage, revealing both the dignity and despair of the catadores as they begin to re-imagine their lives. 98 mins (Brazil/UK)

*The Edge of Eden

This beautiful film about the work of Canadian conservationist Charlie Russell in Kamchatka, Russia follows the story of two orphaned grizzly bear cubs as they are rescued from a zoo and taught to live in the wild.  Through Charlie's unique relationship with the grizzly bears, we are given a rare insight into the world of these animals that are often believed to be the most dangerous in the world . 89 mins (Canada/UK)

*Bag It (trailer)
Sponsored by FortWhyte Alive
Is your life too plastic?  In this touching and funny film, we follow a regular person, Jeb Berrier, as his exploration of plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its effect on our waterways, oceans and even our own bodies.  We see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up to us and what we can do about it right now.  Decide for yourself how plastic your life will be. 78 mins (USA)

*Chemerical (trailer)
Sponsored by GreenPlease!
An exploration of the toxicity of everyday household cleaners and hygiene products, Chermirical  follows the Goode family as they try to turn over a new leaf and create a toxic free home.  The film tackles "the toxic debate" in a truly informative and entertaining way by raising awareness and providing the tools and inspiration to live toxic free. 75 mins (Canada)

*Caribou: Ghost of the North
Sponsored by
CPAWS
The thunder of a thousand hooves echoes across the tundra. Caribou, the only deer truly suited for life in the North, are on the move to their wintering grounds. From the tiny Peary caribou in the High Arctic to the secretive woodland caribou of the boreal forest, the different races carry out their centuries old traditions. What they all share is the need for wild, undisturbed spaces. 25 mins (Canada)
