JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Description:
The Wildlife Lands Unit of the Wildlife and Fisheries Branch require a Wildlife Lands Technician to assist with various habitat and wildlife monitoring projects. The position will be hired through the STEP program and based at 200 Saulteaux Crescent in Winnipeg and will include frequent day trips with some extended stays outside the city. The position will assist with the operation and maintenance of habitat restoration projects and monitoring efforts in critical wildlife areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the operation and maintenance of the Delta Marsh Common Carp exclusion project.
Assist with coordination of grassland and marsh bird surveys
Assist with biological inspections of Wildlife Management Areas and other critical wildlife lands.
Assist with coordination of duck banding projects
Assist with capture and banding Canada geese
GIS analysis of wildlife lands in Manitoba
Other duties as assigned
