“Agriculture and water in a changing climate: solutions for Manitoba’s Interlake area

February 28, 2012 – 10am-3pm
Bifrost Community Centre, Arborg, Manitoba

Global warming will mean that Manitoba farmers, residents and communities will need to adapt to a rapidly changing climate during the twenty-first century. Patters of flooding and drought could be accelerated in the years ahead. What will be the challenges? What programs do governments have in place to help farmers adapt? How could future programs better serve the interest of Manitoba communities?

We will have speakers and panellist from MAFRI, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, East Interlake Conservation District, Ducks Unlimited, Climate Change Connection and Keystone Agriculture Producers

Sponsored by Manitoba Eco-Network and Climate Change Connection
FREE registration by February 24, 2012.

Our Water Caucus brings together various environmental groups working on water to share information and resources, prioritize issues, and support positive actions for improved water stewardship. It includes water-related member groups of the Manitoba Eco-Network as its core, and actively seeks out and interacts with other environmental water groups around the province. A key function of the caucus is to encourage and facilitate broader ENGO and citizen involvement in water stewardship activities.

The Water Caucus, like the Manitoba Eco-Network, is a non-advocacy body but positions of advocacy can be taken by any member group of the caucus, and support for the position can be solicited from other caucus members. The water caucus does not speak on behalf of any organization.
