The RM of East St Paul is recruiting for temporary positions to work in the following capacities;

Climate Change Adaptation Assistant

Green Initiatives Office Assistant

January 2020 – March 31, 2020.

Job Type: Temporary (January – March 31, 2020) NOTE – positions are dependent upon funding

Hours/Days of Work – Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Work Location – Administration Department, 3021 Birds Hill Road, East St. Paul

Opening Date: December 12, 2019

Salary: $14.79/hour

Candidates MUST be;

  • between the ages of 17 years – 30 years (positions require a valid class 5 driver’s license)

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person as defined by the immigration and Refugee Protection Act & eligible to work in Canada

  • able to attend work regularly, punctually

Climate Change Adaptation Assistant

Duties:

The Climate Change Adaptation Assistant may be responsible for any/all of the following; assisting the Climate Change Control Adaptation Coordinator with research and collecting/analyzing information, calculating ghg emissions, identifying and prioritizing climate risks and adaptation opportunities, drafting communications, assisting with public stakeholder engagement, assisting with the RM’s Climate Change Adaptation citizen advisory and internal steering committees, and conducting other general office duties.

Qualifications

  • Courses and/or a degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, or the equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) with the ability to accurately enter data.
  • Valid Province of Manitoba Class Five (5) Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to research, coordinate, organize, and problem solve
  • Strong people skills; friendly, cooperative, energetic, responsible.
  • Effective customer service and team work skills.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully; with tact and diplomacy.
  • The ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Green Initiatives Office Assistant

Duties:

The Green Initiatives Office Assistant would support the RM’s green initiatives by; researching efficiencies, strategies and process changes required for electronic billing (e-billing), support and enhance RM communication specific to green initiatives and green choices through; social media, the RM newsletter and other communication formats, and provide general office support (customer service, filing, answering telephones, data entry).

Qualifications

  • Courses, and/or a diploma/degree in Communication, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, or the equivalent.
  • Office experience considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook PowerPoint and Excel) with the ability to accurately enter data.
  • Valid Province of Manitoba Class Five (5) Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to research, coordinate, organize, and problem solve.
  • Strong people skills; friendly, cooperative, energetic, responsible.
  • Effective customer service and team work skills.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully; with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong writing skills with a working knowledge of social media communication options.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
