Description:

Welcome to Lake Winnipeg Foundation!
At the Lake Winnipeg Foundation (LWF), we’re embarking on an exciting journey, and we want you to be a part of it! As we launch our new strategic plan, we’re creating a brand-new position, and we’re on the lookout for an exceptional Community Engagement Coordinator who’s passionate about building community connections.

About LWF:
LWF is a membership-based environmental charity that advocates for change and coordinates action to protect Lake Winnipeg. Guided by the values of continuous learning, tenacity, accountability, and integrity, we advance evidence-based solutions to improve the health of the world’s 10th-largest freshwater lake.

The Opportunity:
In this exciting role, the Community Engagement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in building an inclusive and active LWF membership community with diverse representation. Reporting directly to our Executive Director, you will also strengthen community partnerships and support community events to increase engagement and mobilize action across all audiences. Your efforts will contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do.

Your Impact:
• Identify prospective new membership communities to recruit and engage new members.
• Cultivate collaborative community partnerships and plan and deliver community events.
• Craft compelling member recruitment communications and ensure diverse representation in messages across all communications channels.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on key online metrics to optimize campaigns, maximize reach, and identify new opportunities.
• Incorporate a strong understanding of treaty rights and responsibilities, anti-racism, environmental justice, and the impacts of colonialism into all that you do.

Who We’re Looking For:
Our ideal candidate is a true “people person” who thrives on connecting with diverse communities and building new relationships, is a team player and enthusiastic collaborator, and a life-long learner. We’re designating this role specifically for BIPOC candidates, and we ask all applicants to self-declare in their cover letters.

Your Qualifications:
You hold a post-secondary degree or diploma in community development, communications, education, or a related field, backed by at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Your collaboration and interpersonal skills are exceptional, and you’re adept with digital communications. Experience in the non-profit sector is highly valuable. Most importantly, your passion for engaging communities and your excitement for new ideas shines through in all you do.

Why LWF:
At LWF, you’ll work alongside dedicated individuals who share your commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship. Our organization offers a unique opportunity to innovate within the non-profit sector, where your contributions will leave a lasting impact. You’ll not only advance your career but also play a pivotal role in securing a sustainable future for generations to come.

Our Commitment:
Effective environmental advocacy must be anti-racist and decolonial. LWF is committed to building diversity, equity, and inclusion into our board, staff team, and membership base. We believe that a diverse team with unique perspectives and backgrounds makes us stronger.

All LWF staff must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to the full extent possible based on provincial eligibility and access (including boosters).
