Environmental Officer – Manitoba Department of Sustainable Development



Degree in Environmental Science/ Studies or related discipline with relevant work experience in an environmental field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Experience working with, and thorough knowledge of, environmental legislation including: The Environment Act, The Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, The Ozone Depleting Substances Act , and the Waste Reduction and Prevention Act
Demonstrated ability to undertake compliance inspection, investigation and enforcement activities
Experience with environmental monitoring and sampling techniques
Effective written communication skills
Effective verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Demonstrated ability to proactively display initiative and solve problems
Effective conflict resolution skills
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access or similar database and software applications

Experience with, and thorough knowledge of, environmental management and the effects that contaminants may have on the environment and human health

Reporting to the Regional Supervisor (EO4), the incumbent is responsible for the administration, inspection, and enforcement of regulations, licences, orders and permits pertaining to The Environment Act, Contaminated Sites Remediation Act, Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act, Waste Reduction and Prevention Act, and Ozone Depleting Substances Act.
