Hours: Full-time

Salary: $35,000 to $45,000/year, based on experience

The Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) is a non-profit multi-agency organization that works collaboratively across Canada to support actions and share information that can help reduce the threat and impacts of invasive species.

Job Description & Responsibilities

Are you a recent graduate intending to lead an environmental career in STEM or natural resources? The CCIS is looking for a highly motivated, young professional to act as our Program Assistant, responsible for providing administrative, program and project support to a national organization working to prevent the spread and impacts of invasive species to Canada’s landscapes. Other responsibilities include:

  • Build web and social media presence and increase awareness on invasive species
  • Help prepare project applications
  • Update and maintain membership lists
  • Organize and update project files
  • Track and report on project activities
  • Assist with creation/coordination of program development and implementation
  • Plan and coordinate national invasive species events
  • Attend outreach events and present on behalf of the council

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution with a 2-year diploma or 4-year degree in a field of study related to natural resources
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and superior organizational skills
  • Bilingual, with oral and written fluency in French is a strong asset, but not a requirement
  • Curious, self-motivated, and capable of building lasting relationships
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Able to work occasional weekends and week day evenings
  • Must be under 30 years of age or younger, Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status
  • Valid Driver’s License
