Project Coordinator, National Farmers Union

Building upon our history of calling for meaningful, fair and effective national and international action to address climate change, the National Farmers Union (NFU) has embarked on a Climate Leadership Project. As farmers, we will highlight the need to address climate change and will develop and promote solutions that reduce emissions and climate change impacts while advancing sustainable agriculture, a healthy food system and strong rural communities. The Climate Leadership Project will work with NFU members and other farmers affected by climate change to highlight climate-friendly farm practices they are doing and/or want to do, and by amplifying farmers’ voices, promote adoption of climate-friendly farm and food policy as part of the larger climate conversation in Canada.

Your Role: The Project Coordinator will implement key aspects of the Climate Leadership Project through project management, membership organizing, and communications and outreach as part of the NFU team and in collaboration with allied organizations. Work will involve organizing face-to-face and web-based learning opportunities with farmers to increase engagement with both the issue and the organization; developing and disseminating media content for distribution through traditional, online and social media channels; strategic networking with allied organizations; scheduling, budgeting, reporting and evaluation. Proficiency in French and social media skills will be considered assets.

This is a part-time term position with flexible hours, ending in April 2020. The position may be extended or renewed if funding permits. Preference will be given to candidates located in one of the western provinces and/or able to work from the NFU’s national office in Saskatoon. Some travel and weekend/evening work will be required.
