Final Report

Overview
The Healthy Environment, Healthy Neighbourhood project wants to learn how industrial sites in Winnipeg affect the people who live near them. We will also work to learn about the ways that people can use the law to get justice for the problems that come from living near contaminated industrial sites. We successfully interviewed people who live in the inner city who have had problems with pollution from a variety of industrial sites. Their stories have illustrated the ways local residents struggle with many types of pollution coming from these industries. Our legal research explains what is missing from the legal framework, as well as what is needed to enable residents to have access to environmental justice.
