Volunteer opportunity supporting the Lake Winnipeg Foundation’s Community-Based Monitoring Network. Volunteers collect water samples to monitor phosphorus levels in local waterways, helping identify “phosphorus hotspots” that contribute to algae blooms. Sampling occurs 2–3 times per week during spring melt and rain events, then shifts to biweekly once flows stabilize. Volunteers are matched to sites close to their location and trained to collect samples efficiently and accurately.
