Changes to Canada’s Federal Review Process: Manitoba Eco-Network Comments

James Beddome says the government’s changes mean people concerned about a pipeline or a transmission line are going to have less right to participation in the review process.

“If you’re concerned about a pipeline or a transmission line that crosses provinces or international jurisdictions going through your backyard, you’re going to have less rights of participation to speak up and say something”

“That’s what’s so scary about these regulatory changes. They’re basically saying, ‘let’s build without doing proper assessments, let’s build without getting proper data, let’s build without allowing outside perspectives – be those landowners,  (or) be those Indigenous rights holders.”
