The Stony Mountain Quarry Trail takes visitors on a leisurely hike through a mix of natural and urban environments just minutes north of Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway. The 2.1 km trail passes through a small forest to find the quarry on the other side where it continues along the edge. You can spot remnants of the mining history including jutting limestone ledges, abandoned excavations and a quarry pond at the base. The hike will continue on to the nearby .7 km Assiniwa Trail and .7 km Prairie Trail, 3.5 kms in all. Remember this is not a guided interpretive nature hike, just a group hike to meet some new people, get outside, and have fun!" 4	5	6 Rally: Get Manitoba Moving on Transit! - Climate Action Team Manitoba Rally: Get Manitoba Moving on Transit! - Climate Action Team Manitoba October 6, 2026 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Manitoba Legislative Building, 450 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V8, Canada CATM: As the provincial government returns to the legislature for the fall session, join the Next Stop: 50-50 campaign to deliver a transit mandate: Restore 50-50 funding by Dec. 3! Action to improve transit is critical during this legislative session. The rally will include speakers, music, a photobooth, kids activities, and more! Details coming soon. Open to everyone! Context: This September, the government has made transit free for youth. This is a great step! Next, we need increased operating funding through restoring the 50-50 funding agreement, to improve transit service for all riders. Public transit is a fundamental public service that reduces costs, congestion, and pollution. Current transit systems in Manitoba are underfunded, in part because of cuts under the previous provincial government. We’re calling on Premier Kinew to restore provincial 50–50 transit funding for Manitoba municipalities by December 3, 2026, so the Province matches all new operating investments in public transit. Restoring 50-50 will put more buses on the road, expand coverage, and improve service.
