Project Overview

The focus of the project is to build on our partners existing environmental capacity, allowing them to increase the climate resiliency of their affiliated neighborhoods with a focus on reducing GHG emissions and creating localized climate adaptive solutions.

Together, we intend to develop a plan for meaningful climate adaptation in our partner neighbourhoods. We are exploring project ideas and topics to research that are meaningful to each community’s unique needs.

This project has gone through several phases, originally called Building Community Climate Resilience and later titled Neighbourhood Climate Resilience, is now titled as Climate Safe Green City. For clarity and consistent labelling, the CSGC title is how this page will refer to the ongoing project.

The Climate Safe, Green City project receives ongoing support from the Province of Manitoba. However, we are always scouting new grant opportunities for CSGC. Between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, we were able to raise $35,000 in grant funding through the Canada Red Cross, with $30,000 of those funds flowing back to our community partners - investing in local organizations and supporting the vital work that they do within the city of Winnipeg.
